My own interpretation of an Eric Boman and Manolo photograph. This is my second pair of Manolo's that Matt gave me about twelve years ago. This feathered beauty is perched on one of Matt's sculptures titled "Lover's Leap". Apropos, no?

So are Manolos more comfortable than, say, Jessica Simpson heels of similar altitude? I've always wondered. I love high heeled shoes but have almost given them up unless there's a platform involved because I can't walk in them! But I've never even tried on a pair of Manolos or Jimmy Choos or their ilk.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shoes, Lesa. Your photo fit right in.
Lovely, but oh those rasberry decorated strappy heels. To die for!
ReplyDeleteHi Tipsy, I've never tried on Jessica Simpson heels, so I can't compare fit. But I imagine there is a big quality difference. Manolo's are handmade in Italy and JS shoes are made in China. My feathered heels are what I call taxi shoes, you get delivered to the front door of your destination with minimal walking. But that's because of the style; they slip on with no ankle support. I have a pair of suede Jimmy Choo boots with 2 1/2 inch heels and they are very comfortable. I'm glad you liked the photo!
ReplyDeleteYour photo fits right in! I don't own a pair of Manolo's but hope to some day. Based on this post, I think you would enjoy the book "The Well Dressed Home" by Nanette Tatum, in that it brings together fashion and interior design in a way that is very artistic and inspirational.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the book recommendation! "The Well Dressed Home" looks beautiful. I'll have to add it to my collection.
DeleteI'm curious about comfort, too. It does seem that my 'investment' shoes are more comfortable...and last longer since I often resole. Fun post, Lesa. And great photo and sculpture by Matt!
ReplyDeleteYou do get what you pay for with excellent quality shoes. I have a couple pair of Italian Gravati boots that I've worn comfortably for years. If I buy a pair of shoes with leather soles and I know I'll wear them a lot, I have a Topy sole added. My favorite shoe repair is Galletti in San Francisco at 22 Battery near Market. They perfectly replaced a broken heel on a pair of Lambertson Truex boots that three other shoe repairers refused to work on.
